I’m Janine… the wife of Pastor Maurice Anderson, we have 4 adulting children, and we are the proud grandparents to Miss. Tinsley!

I absolutely love my city, Rancho Cordova, California and the community in which we live. And I love to support my community any way that I can.

Many people have asked me why have we decided to open an ice cream shop? Well, my love of ice cream was passed down to me by my mother Rosalie. My mother also sparked my 20+ year career/mission to coach and mentor youth and adults in the area of employment services and leadership.

I also want to share that when you book a Build A Sundae Experience for your special occasions and events, you are providing us with opportunities to build the skill sets of all of our team members and most importantly you are providing amazing social opportunities for our neurodivergent team members!

Hey Y’all Hey,

Why We Do It

Who doesn't love ice cream? Ice cream has always been a staple in our household. Ms. Rose, could never pass on a cone, bowl, or spoonful of chocolate chip/mint chip ice cream (our favorites), nor did she pass on the opportunity to help others gain access to knowledge and resources that could possibly better their current situation.

Ms. Rose also had a heart for youth. So much so that she opened her home to nearly 30 foster youth. Some of these youth were intellectually and developmentally challenged, but Ms. Rose never allowed a youth's disability to be the deciding factor that determined what the youth could do or who they could be.

While the youth were in her care, she did her best to instill characteristics like integrity and teamwork, social skills, life skills, and most importantly, she encouraged the youth to be gainfully employed and set goals for their future. My mother taught me that all youth need to feel valued and given the opportunity to learn, earn money, and contribute to their communities.

Meet the Team

  • Janine

    Founder & CEO

I love karaoke. My favorite ice cream is Chocolate chip with shaved chips, not chunks, and rocky road with almonds. I started BAS because I love ice cream, love to see people smile, and to honor my mother's legacy to empower neurodivergent youth and young adults. Challenges I have overcome: indulging in sundaes every day.

  • Maurice

    Founder & CTO

Hey Hey Heeeyyyyyy!!! … I am the husband of Janine Anderson, dad of 4 adulting children and grandpa of 1 and counting 😁. For the past 10 + years I’ve been the Pastor of Praise By Nature Ministries located in Rancho Cordova, California. I love working in the community, creating music, and hanging out with my wife and family. My favorites ice creams are Mint Chip, Chocolate, and Coffee.

  • Mylah

    Sundaeologist

My favorite ice cream sundaes are the ones I make myself. I wanted to work at Build-A-Sundae because I like ice cream and I wanted some for free. Also because I want to be a part of my family's legacy. Working at BAS is helping me to get out of my comfort zone & work towards my goal of being an actress.

  • Tyler

    Sundaeologist

Hello, my name is Tyler Reynolds, I work with and for Build a Sundae. My favorite ice cream is mint cookie cream. A fun fact about me is that I like watermelon. After meeting the Andersons through community events that their nonprofit organization was part of, we built a friendship, so when opportunity to join Build A Sundae was available, I wanted in… and why wouldn’t I want to work with ice cream.

  • Julian

    Sundaeologist

I enjoy doing voices and voice impressions and/or I am an artist. My favorite ice cream is Swiss Milk Chocolate it taste like frozen hot chocolate, also the mango or lemon sorbet. I wanted to work for BAS because I like ice cream. A challenge I have overcome, is my fear of dancing in front of others.

  • Machai

    Sundaeologist

I wanted to work at Build A Sundae to gain work knowledge and experience. My favorite kind of ice cream sundae would be a strawberry flavored ice cream sundae. A fun fact about me is that I enjoy creating digital art! For a challenge that I wish to accomplish, I hope to become greater and better at being able to interact and serve people directly.

We Serve Smiles.
